It's Official
I received 85% of the votes in the Democratic primary cast for governor. Yes, I was uncontested, but still. I'm now officially the Democratic Nominee for Maine House District 82.
Wow, Craig. I'm away from blog-reading for a while and come back and read about this.
You know ... If anyone can stay sane and centered in the world of politics, it's you. I'm smiling pretty damn wide thinking about it as I sit here at my computer.
Sending my very very best wishes to you in this step, and everything else going on for/with you right now.
I'm running against a 3-term moderate Republican incumbent in a moderate district comprised mostly of independents. Conventional wisdom says I'm going to lose in a landslide.
But I'm not running a conventional campaign and I'm not a conventional candidate. I could just as easily win in a landslide.
As for the division in voter registration, it's roughly a third Dem, a third Rep, and a third unenrolled in either. There are also a few Greens in the district, and unlike some races, I expect we will have luck getting their votes.
As Craig said, he isn't conventional. The chances he has in the district are much better than other candidates would have, because there are issues he is unbeatable on.

excellent...what's the registration in the distict (%dem, %rep, %ind) or does winning the primary guarantee you a spot in november?
