I've been thinking a lot about Twain's quote, feeling torn between agreeing with it and agreeing with Martin Luther King, Jr.: ”Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. I also hope that this retribution, however right, means that more of our soldiers can come home to their families. I am so grateful for those who protect our freedoms. I hope we can gain some peace.
