ALLOW YOURSELVES to be distracted by gutter politics at your own peril. Wall Street insiders are calling today worse than Black Monday. Alan Greenspan, who's partly responsible, mind you, said this is the worst economy of the last 100 years. Jobs are disappearing like mirages. Venezuela has cut diplomatic relations with the United States. I expect the good people of Maine who needed their subsidies to help heat their homes last winter won't take too kindly to the current administration for conspiring with radical rightwing forces to overthrow Latin American governments.
The middle class has been raped and raped and raped and raped. Another Republican administration will continue to rape us. Guaranteed. Poor people are getting poorer and poorer and poorer. We don't talk much about starvation in this nation, but we ought to. A Republican administration will cause more starvation. Guaranteed.
This is not a time to get sidetracked by lipstick and pigs and snow machine races, people. The Roman Empire wasn't built in a day, but it seems to have crumbled in half of one. You can't spend what you don't have expanding the military to prepare for imperial war after imperial war without suffering disastrous consequences. Without mortgaging our grandchildren’s futures. And make no mistake, that is what all Republican administrations since Ronald Reagan inclusive have done.
So, here we are. Facing certain disaster.
What choice will we make in November? More economic rape and starvation and disaster and debt, or, change and hope and a fighter’s chance to make things right?

Excellent post. Thank you.
tell it, craig. I appreciate this so much. I really do.
Craig I really believe that there are enough people that are suffering and hurting this time around that they will insist on change.
I hear you Craig. I woke up this morning to the news of Merril Lynch and Lehman Bros. I am scared. The economy is terrible. How can America even entertain the idea of letting the Repubs back in the white house another 4 years??? As it was proclaimed in Spike Lee's School Daze we need to WAKE UP!
Great post. And, yes, I remember.
